IPod in Education: The Potential for Teaching and Learning

Although this article was sponsored by Apple inc. it provides a large amount of information as to how and why iPods can be used in Education.

The article puts forward the idea that it would be beneficial to incorporate media literacies in the classroom which is a large but of a students out of school life. However, this needs to closely linked to the curriculum and not just an add on for it to be of any real value.

The article also suggests that by providing students with access to these kind of media files at a time that is convenient to them the learners can take greater ownership of their own learning. These technologies can be used to promote independent learning.

The article also puts forward the idea that by accessing podcasts through their iPods students will develop their knowledge of the subject. However, by making podcats themselves students not only strengthen this knowledge but also demonstrate their knowledge to a greater audience.
