Stephen, i agree. The noise factor is quite distracting, however majority of schools have one or two computers in the classroom mostly situated in a quite area, or the school has a portable computer lab or lap top computers that can be transfered from room to room. If such technology permits, students could record their podcasts 2 at a time while the class completes other activities. This would aleviate noise issues.

I also think that podcast are not only a great tool for shy students but that they would be extremely beneficial for ESL students. It would provide them with speaking and listening tasks that are scaffolded and supported and would allow an opportunity to speak and practice their English without the stress of an audience. Teachers could also use these podcasts as reference for assessment and reflection of achievement for all class students, especially ESL children.

Hey Steve,

you hve since added a great deal to your page, and adjusted the whole non-smoking background too. (i like the palm leaves better).

Anyway, noticed that on your blogroll my blog address is incorrect. you have me at adublogs, instead of edublogs, not sure how you fix that, you might need to delete me and start again. but thought i better let you know.

anyway, i best be off, i have some catching up to do, and want to try and upload my podcast into my edublog. Fingers crossed.

TTYS, Kirsty
